Sniper Ghost Warrior – Game Review

Posted by in Games

I have always loved being a sniper in games that allow it.  Always so distant and stealthy, just take your time and eliminate the target when they least expect it. Surprisingly this game, like real life, shows that snipers do a lot more than that.  Especially considering high value targets are usually hunkered down in a city or in the mountains you need to infiltrate the area first, which sometimes means killing a few guards along the way (silently of course).  This adds an amazing amount of drama, crawling around…read more

Homefront – Game Review

Posted by in Games

When I first heard about the game Homefront, I loved the premise, especially since it is rarely done.  A U.S.A. invasion story where America is occupied by a more powerful (or at least more coordinated) enemy and the only valid way to fight back is with guerrilla tactics.  I, as usual, held off on buying the game until it went on a Steam sale for $15 and I’m glad I did for a few reasons. Firstly, the game has a tremendously gripping story.  You begin the game in occupied Colorado…read more

Prince of Persia Warrior Within – Game Review

Posted by in Games

I’ve been playing Prince of Persia Warrior Within at work during lunches, and I think that is the best way to consume this content for me.  I can only really handle the frustration in small doses, and while this game isn’t as frustrating as Sands of Time was, it still has a lot. When I was a kid I was probably better able to handle doing repetitive, long battles but when I got near the end of this game I was always looking for ways to avoid the fights because…read more

The Elder Scrolls 3 Morrowind – Video Game Review

This is actually more of a mini-review or non-review because I didn’t finish Morrowind and I really only played for about 3 hours. It’s really unfortunate that I didn’t get to play this game back in 2002, because I probably would have found it pretty good for its time.  Unfortunately this is not its time and it hasn’t aged well at all, IMO. Having already played a few hours of The Elder Scrolls 4 Oblivion, I found myself unfairly comparing the two games.  I know from the internet that a…read more

Portal 2 – Video Game Review

Posted by in Games

Considering how much I loved Portal, I was surprised that I didn’t pick up Portal 2 as soon as it became available.  There just seemed to be so many games I still hadn’t gotten around to (I’m still at about 60, not counting games I don’t own yet), but Steam made me an offer I didn’t feel like refusing.  Portal 2 went to 50% off a few weeks ago, so I snatched it up quick and got right into the game.  It’s not as short as the first Portal (3…read more
