Spec Ops: The Line

Posted by in Games

Spec Ops: The Line developed by Yager Development for the single player (I didn’t play the multiplayer) is a third person shooter set in Dubai after a giant sandstorm has forced the evacuation of all the inhabitants.  The sandstorm lasted for months and comes back a few times during the game.  This means the setting is desert areas juxtaposed with high class skyscrapers.  If you are familiar at all with Dubai you should recognize a lot of the buildings. What sets Spec Ops: The Line apart from other “shooters” is…read more

Dishonored – Game Review

Posted by in Games

Dishonored is a first person stealth action game by Arkane Studios.  I reserved it from Game Access so that I had it only two days after it was released on PS3.  I was completely unaware of this game until about 5 months ago when it started getting a lot of press coverage.  In a way that was great, instead of having 3 years of hype it just comes virtually out of nowhere and is available to play shortly thereafter.  There is some replayability and lots of achievements to unlock if…read more

God of War Origins – Game Review

God of War Origins is the PS3 release of the two PSP God of War titles, Chains of Olympus from 2008 and Ghost of Sparta from 2010 with updated graphics.  Since I never planned to buy another portable gaming system I was really waiting for this combo pack to be released, and since I rejoined Game Access I was able to have them send this to me while I was waiting for Dishonored to release. Playing these games it is easy to tell that Chains of Olympus falls squarely between…read more

Star Wars – Force Unleashed 2

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2 is a third person action-adventure platform game developed by LucasArts and released in 2010. I really enjoyed Force Unleashed, despite some major bugs with the game so I decided to give the sequel a shot regardless of all the bad reviews it’s gotten.  I think most of the bad press is due to it’s short length, even for me 6.5 hours is a short game of this type.  It really seems as if the developer ran out of time/money/resources and was forced to just…read more

The Secret World – Month 2

Posted by in Games

I played a lot more of The Secret World this month, despite having so many other things to do.  As I said in the previous post, the main draw for me is the modern day setting and this was put to the test when Guild Wars 2 released at the end of the month.  I gave GW2 a few days of my time, and I might right up a review at the end of the month but ultimately for all it’s greatness I was still really bummed to still be…read more
