Escape Goat & PixelJunk Eden

Posted by in Games

These two games can in the same Indie Royale bundle I picked up a while ago so I thought I’d give them a try this weekend. Escape Goat by MagicalTimeBeam is a very retro style game, almost to it’s detriment.  You play as a goat that has been imprisoned for witchcraft (must be in Nigeria) and you must escape by solving puzzles.  There are virtually no graphics options, just “stretch to fit” and the pixel art is more pixely than usual.  That said the game has some really interesting puzzle…read more

Indie Game – The Movie

Posted by in Movies

I’ve mostly gotten away from reviewing movies on my blog but this one is totally worth breaking that trend. The Secret World – First Month

The Secret World (TSW) is an MMORPG from Funcom, the makers of Anarchy Online and Age of Conan.  Set in the modern day world with a twist: all the myths, urban legends, and conspiracy theories about zombies, sasquatches, Cthulhu, and secret organizations running the world are true. The Walking Dead – Game

The Walking Dead game is an episodic adventure made by Telltale games.  The current plan is to have 5 episodes, which are included in the $25 season pass on Steam, and if it is received well enough there may be another season after this one.  It is essentially a point and click adventure title for the most part, but I didn’t realize that for quite some time thanks to the great story and voice acting.  Based in the same world and even the same areas of Georgia as the graphic novel and…read more

Arma 2 mod DayZ – Game Review

Posted by in Games

This review is specifically about the mod for Arma 2 called DayZ, since I have yet to actually play Arma 2. Arma 2 was designed to be an authentic army simulator, where you can only carry so many items, weapons and vehicles act similar to how they do in the real world, and you win with tactics not “health packs”.  The DayZ mod takes that idea but adds in zombies to the rolling countryside of fictional Chernarus (a russian zone).  What is really interesting is that the mod provides no…read more
