Assassin’s Creed Revelations – Game Review

Posted by in Games

After 4 months I finally got around to finishing Assassin’s Creed Revelations.  I had played it a lot when it came out, but then SWTOR released and then I went on vacation and it just kept getting overlooked, but as soon as I started to play it again I couldn’t put it down until I’d finished it (or had to sleep/work).  It’s very compelling, and usually does a good job of making you want to complete the next story mission. There are a few pauses in the story where it…read more

Uncharted 3 – Game Review

I seem to recall liking both Uncharted and Uncharted 2, but after about 45 minutes with Uncharted 3 I was thinking it couldn’t be true. I think Uncharted 3 suffers a little (or a lot) from following Batman: Arkham City and really cannot hold up to it in many ways.  It’s not really a terrible game, it just has some issues that seem archaic after playing Batman. Let me say that I did play it all the way through without getting so frustrated that I put it down.  When I…read more

Batman Arkham City – Game Review

I bought Batman: Arkham City for PS3 on release day from Wal-Mart (because it came with a free copy of Arkham Asylum GOTY edition) and finished the main story mode on Saturday.  This may seem like a quick turn around but it’s really more about the extreme amount of play I put into it.  I really didn’t do anything else outside of work and sleep. I really enjoyed Arkham Asylum when I rented it, and Arkham City is so much more of what I loved.  The story is great, and…read more

Heavy Rain – Game Review

I was a little skeptical at first when I played the demo for Heavy Rain.  I don’t really like Quick Time Events (QTE) because I feel I’m not looking at what is actually happening anymore, all I’m doing is looking for a controller symbol to press within the given time.  God of War 3 made this much better by putting the 4 symbols in screen locations that corresponded to the location of each button on the controller but that wouldn’t have worked for Heavy Rain. What did work was that…read more

Red Dead Redemption – Review

Posted by in Games

I had heard so many great things about Red Dead Redemption that it was inevitable that I would play it. This isn’t the kind of game that just slips by you. That is partly why I’m so surprised just how little I liked the game.  In fact I couldn’t bring myself to finish it after I struggled into Mexico and found the things I disliked didn’t get any better and the things I liked just weren’t compelling enough to keep playing.  This is one of those games that I wanted…read more
