Max Payne 3

Posted by in Games

Max Payne 3 is a third person shooter developed by Rockstar Vancouver for the Playstation3, Xbox 360, and Windows.  I rented it for the PS3 from Game Access.  The story follows Max as a retired detective who spends his days in bar and his nights feeling sorry for himself for losing his wife and child (presumably in the previous game, which I didn’t play).  The game starts In Media Res and tells most of the story through flashbacks that you play through.  As the story progresses you learn that Max…read more

Assassin’s Creed 3

Assassin’s Creed 3 is a third person action adventure platforming assassination/history game from Ubisoft Montreal.  I had pre-ordered the game for PS3 from EB Games when they first offered it, but something about the game information that was being leaked, my opinions of EB Games, and my growing dislike of “owning” physical media for an outdated system made me cancel it.  That said I recently renewed my Game Access subscription specifically to rent these kinds of games that I find myself playing once and then never again.  I had wanted…read more

Dishonored is a first person stealth action game by Arkane Studios.  I reserved it from Game Access so that I had it only two days after it was released on PS3.  I was completely unaware of this game until about 5 months ago when it started getting a lot of press coverage.  In a way that was great, instead of having 3 years of hype it just comes virtually out of nowhere and is available to play shortly thereafter.  There is some replayability and lots of achievements to unlock if…read more

God of War Origins – Game Review

Posted by in Games

God of War Origins is the PS3 release of the two PSP God of War titles, Chains of Olympus from 2008 and Ghost of Sparta from 2010 with updated graphics.  Since I never planned to buy another portable gaming system I was really waiting for this combo pack to be released, and since I rejoined Game Access I was able to have them send this to me while I was waiting for Dishonored to release. Playing these games it is easy to tell that Chains of Olympus falls squarely between…read more
